Bikramjit spent his childhood in a small town in West Bengal’s Darjeeling district named Siliguri. He grew up watching his father acting on the stage regularly and his mother pursuing her career as a vocal artist.

His first encounter with cinema was obviously a mythological one where he confronted demons and gods. The culturally inclined atmosphere of his family allowed him to watch a lot of movies and the world of cinema gradually went on mesmerising him.

Bikramjit’s world turned into a different direction when he saw films made by renowned directors like Satyajit Ray and Rittwik Ghatak for the first time in a film festival organised by a newly formed film society. It changed his approach in understanding Life and resulted into his admission to a post-graduate programme in Film Studies.

He has a Masters Degree in Film studies from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.

Bikramjit has worked as an independent film maker for over fifteen years, shooting and directing commercial, organisational as well as personal ventures.

He directed a full length independent Bengali feature film 'Achal (The Stagnant)' which has been officially selected for screening in various International Film festivals all over the world. Earlier in 2003, he had directed and produced a short fiction 'Laden Is Not My Friend'. This film too was selected for screening at different festivals.

In 2014 and 2015, he has conducted courses in the International Open Elective session at NID on documentation in audio visual format.
